MANILA — The Philippines secured eight medals at the 46th Southeast Asian Age Group Championships held at Assumption University in Bangkok, Thailand. Among the winners was 15-year-old Jamesray Mishael Ajido, who clinched the gold in the boys 14-15 50m butterfly, breaking a 2018 record with a time of 25.53 seconds.
Ivo Nikolai Enot and Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh added two silver medals, with Enot finishing second in the boys 16-18 50m backstroke, and Mojdeh securing silver in both the 100m and 200m butterfly events.
The 12-member Philippine team, led by Philippine Aquatics, Inc. (PAI) President Miko Vargas, ended the year on a high note, reinforcing the strength of the country’s youth swimming program. Eric Buhain, PAI secretary-general, expressed pride in the team’s performance, optimistic about continued success in 2025.
Meanwhile, swimmers Xiandi Chua, Chloe Isleta, Andrian Eichler, and Merin Mahmutuglu are set to compete at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, starting Wednesday.
