MANILA — Following the dismissal of Bamban Mayor Alice Guo for grave misconduct, DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos on Wednesday (14 Aug 2024) said Municipal Councilor Erano Timbang will temporarily serve as the town mayor for three months.
The DILG chief explained that Bamban Vice Mayor Leonardo Anunciacion, the next in line of succession, was suspended by the Office of the Ombudsman for three months.
“We should follow the succession,” Abalos said.
He pointed out that Timbang, the only councilor left in the municipal council, is also the sole councilor who had a “difference of opinion” about the granting of permit to the Pogo in Bamban.
“He is the only one who opposed [the Pogo permit], so he was absolved by the Ombudsman,” the DILG chief further said.
