MANILA — Amid rumors that Pwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Representative Margarita “Atty. Migs” Nograles will run for mayor in Davao City, incumbent Mayor Baste Zimmerman Duterte reportedly would like to see his father former president Rodrigo Roa Duterte challenge the “beauty-and-brains” lawyer-daughter of former House Speaker Prospero “Boy” Nograles.
Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has revealed that Baste Duterte set the condition that he would only run for senator if FPRRD runs for Davao City mayor.
“Ang requirement lang niya is dapat si President Duterte ang tatakbong mayor ng Davao. Pero mukhang di pa nafinalize,” Dela Rosa said on Thursday (3 October 2024) upon filing his certificate of candidacy (COC).
Baste was not around when Dela Rosa, together with reelectionist senator Bong Go, and action star Phillip Salvador filed their respective COC.
“So far, hindi pa final yung decision nila. Pero since nag-take oath na si Mayor Baste sa PDP, we are hoping na sasama siya sa amin, tatakbong senador,” Dela Rosa said.
For decades, the Nograleses and the Dutertes have been bitter rivals in the Davao local political arena.
