MANILA — National University (NU) continued its strong performance in the 2024 V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge, securing its second win with a straight-set victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) on Sunday at Paco Arena in Manila.
The Bulldogs triumphed with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-15. Michaelo Buddin led NU with 13 attacks, three blocks, and an ace, while skipper Leo Aringo added 13 points, including 12 on attacks. Aringo also made nine excellent receptions and five digs, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
NU coach Dante Alinsunurin noted, “We’re rebuilding the team, and while it’s great that we won, gaining experience for our other players is crucial. We need to improve our team cohesion to minimize unforced errors.”
Supporting NU’s efforts were Obed Mukaba with six points, Jan Llanfred Abadillad with five, and Greg Augustus Luis Ancheta, who provided 13 excellent sets.
For EAC, Jan Ruther Abor led with 14 points from 12 attacks, a block, and an ace. Frelwin Taculog added six attacks and an ace. Despite their efforts, EAC remains winless, having lost both of their matches in the tournament.
Next up for NU is a match against the University of Santo Tomas on August 11 at 3 p.m., a rematch of the UAAP finals. EAC will face De La Salle University on August 14.
