MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a warning regarding potentially dangerous heat index levels in 19 areas across the country for Saturday (20 April 2024).
According to PAGASA’s 5 p.m. forecast on Friday, the following regions may experience a heat index ranging from 42°C to 44°C on Saturday:
Dagupan City, Pangasinan – 44°C
Bacnotan, La Union – 42°C
Aparri, Cagayan – 42°C
Tuguegarao, Cagayan – 42°C
Clark Airport (DMIA), Pampanga – 42°C
Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas – 42°C
Coron, Palawan – 42°C
Puerto Princesa City, Palawan – 42°C
Aborlan, Palawan – 44°C
Virac (SYNOP), Catanduanes – 42°C
CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur – 43°C
Roxas City, Capiz – 43°C
Iloilo City, Iloilo – 42°C
Dumangas, Iloilo – 43°C
Catarman, Northern Samar – 44°C
Guiauan, Eastern Samar – 43°C
Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur – 43°C
Davao City, Davao del Sur – 42°C
Cotabato City, Maguindanao – 43°C
PAGASA explains that the heat index reflects what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is factored in with the air temperature.
The public is strongly advised to minimize outdoor activities, especially during noon, and to ensure proper hydration by drinking plenty of water. Additionally, individuals venturing outside should use umbrellas or wear hats and clothing with sleeves.
Meanwhile, most regions in the country will experience generally fair weather conditions, with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Throughout the archipelago, expect light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
Temperature forecasts for key areas include:
Metro Manila: 25°C to 35°C
Baguio City: 17°C to 26°C
Laoag City: 24°C to 33°C
Legazpi City: 26°C to 33°C
Metro Cebu: 27°C to 32°C
Metro Davao: 25°C to 34°C.
