MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) alerted the public to hazardous heat index levels across 36 regions on Monday (13 May 2024).

As per the agency’s forecast, the following locations are expected to experience heat index readings ranging from 42°C to 47°C:

Laoag City, Ilocos Norte – 45°C

Aparri, Cagayan – 47°C
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – 46°C
NVSU Bayombong, Nueva Ecija – 42°C

PAGASA explained that the heat index reflects what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is factored in with the air temperature.

The weather agency strongly advised the public to minimize outdoor activities, particularly during noon, and to stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Individuals venturing outside are urged to utilize umbrellas or wear hats and long-sleeved clothing for added protection.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and other regions of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, attributed to the easterly winds.

Throughout the archipelago, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are forecasted.
