MANILA — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced on Tuesday (June 11, 2024) that the study regarding a potential salary increase for government workers is projected to conclude before the end of June 2024.
DBM indicated that the study on salary adjustment is currently ongoing.
“The comprehensive study thoroughly explores various aspects of the current compensation system, including salaries, benefits, and allowances, to pinpoint areas for improvement,” stated DBM in a release.
The study also entails benchmarking activities against the private sector and aims to establish a fair and sustainable pay structure to enhance the welfare and productivity of government workers, while considering the effects of inflation, added DBM.
Once finalized, the agency mentioned that the consultant commissioned by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) will present the approved study results to both the DBM and the GCG.
“The DBM assures its readiness to support the implementation of the salary adjustment once approved, ensuring a competitive and equitable compensation package for our civil servants,” it affirmed.
Previously, DBM stated that the cost of implementing the salary adjustment would be drawn from the available appropriations under the Fiscal Year 2024 General Appropriations Act and subsequent annual appropriations.
