MANILA – Three (3) weather systems are expected to bring rain across the country on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Tropical Depression Romina, which previously affected the Kalayaan Islands, is no longer within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). As of 4 a.m., Romina was located 165 km west of Pag-asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan.
It was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near its center and gustiness of up to 70 kph. While the storm no longer directly impacts the country, its trough will continue to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms across Palawan.
The shear line will also cause scattered rains across the Visayas, Bicol Region, Calabarzon, and the rest of Mimaropa. PAGASA has forecast that the northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” will bring rains over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Bulacan, and Nueva Ecija. Isolated light rains are expected to affect the rest of Luzon.
Mindanao will experience isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Strong to gale-force winds and rough to very rough seas are expected in northern Luzon and the eastern sections of central and southern Luzon.
The Visayas, the rest of Luzon, and northeastern Mindanao will experience moderate to strong winds, with moderate to rough seas.
Northern Samar is expected to receive heavy to intense rains, while the rest of Mindanao will see light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
PAGASA advises the public to remain alert for any further weather updates.
