MANILA — Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala, alongside her French partner Estelle Cascino, continues to make waves at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Open 3C Seine-et-Marne in Croissy-Beaubourg, France, as they advance to the finals of the women’s doubles.
In Friday’s semifinals, they secured their spot in the finals by defeating the Russian-Luxembourgish duo of Kira Pavlova and Marie Weckerie in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
This achievement marks a significant comeback for Eala, currently ranked 171st in the world, following her earlier exit from the women’s singles at the Round of 16.
Eala and Cascino are now poised to challenge the top-seeded British-French pair of Maia Lumsden and Jessika Ponchet in the championship match.
Lumsden and Ponchet earned their spot in the finals by overcoming the all-American sister duo of Carmen and Ivana Corley in a hard-fought three-set semifinal, with a final score of 2-6, 7-5, 10-0.
