MANILA – The country will continue to experience generally fair weather due to the influence of the easterlies, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday (22 May 2024).

However, the easterlies may also bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms could lead to flash floods or landslides.

In terms of temperature, the heat index could reach a high of 46 degrees Celsius in Virac (Synop), Catanduanes; Roxas City, Capiz; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

The following areas are expected to have heat indices ranging from 42 to 45 degrees Celsius:

Heat indices between 41°C and 51°C fall under the danger level, with risks of heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Prolonged exposure could result in heat stroke.

Despite the high temperatures, PAGASA noted that the entire archipelago will continue to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
