MANILA — Senator Nancy Binay reiterated on Monday (May 6, 2024) that Filipino street delicacies hold the potential to enhance the country’s tourism industry.
“Our street delicacies offer a raw and authentic glimpse into local cultures and flavors, showcasing the heart and soul of a place,” Binay stated in a press release.
“I have always emphasized the need to elevate and improve the quality of Filipino cuisine as it holds significant potential for food tourism and serves as a powerful marketing tool,” added the chairperson of the Senate’s panel on tourism.
Binay also commended President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos for his recent vlog highlighting Filipino food.
“We are pleased that even the President appreciates the ongoing recognition of various Filipino street foods as essential elements in boosting our tourism,” the senator remarked.
Binay had previously urged local government units to enhance their tourism by elevating the quality of street food and promoting local flavors to tourists.
