MANILA – Metro Manila and other areas in Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas will experience a wet Christmas Day due to the shear line, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced early Wednesday (25 Dec 2024).

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA reported that regions such as Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes will face heavy to intense rainfall. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains are expected over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, and Northern Samar.

PAGASA also issued a warning for “numerous flooding events” in urbanized, low-lying, or river-adjacent areas, with landslides likely in regions that are moderately to highly susceptible.

Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region will experience cloudy skies with rain, while the Ilocos Region is expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light showers, influenced by the northeast monsoon, or “amihan.”

Elsewhere in the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are forecast due to the easterlies.

The northern sections of Luzon and the eastern parts of Central and Southern Luzon will experience rough seas, with strong northeast to easterly winds.

Temperatures will range between 24.6°C and 28.2°C.
