MANILA – Government workers can now receive an annual medical allowance of P7,000 as the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) issued Budget Circular 2024-6.

This circular, signed by Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, outlines the guidelines for the grant, which takes effect in 2025.

The allowance, part of Executive Order (EO) 64 s. 2024 signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., aims to support health-related expenses through HMO-type benefits. It applies to all civilian personnel in national government agencies, state universities, government-owned corporations, and local government units, regardless of employment status.

Qualified employees may receive the allowance in the form of HMO coverage facilitated by their agencies or in cash to renew or secure individual HMO plans.

“This is a promise fulfilled,” said Pangandaman, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to the welfare of state workers. She added that this initiative is a vital investment in ensuring a healthy and efficient workforce.

The medical allowance complements the salary increase for government personnel under EO 64.
