CEBU CITY — The age-old adage that Philippine politics make strange bedfellows may hold true as former Cebu City Mayor Tomas “Tommy” R. Osmeña has indicated his willingness to run for vice mayor provided that his running mate for the mayoralty post will be Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia.
Osmeña and Garcia used to be in opposing political camps.
Reliable sources told Maharlika NuMedia that the prospect of having a Garcia-Osmeña tandem is giving headache to former Customs Commissioner Yogi Ruiz who is mulling to run for mayor in this reputed Queen City of the South.
However, incumbent Mayor Mike Rama has kept mum on his political plans for the 2025 polls.
Critics have assailed Rama for his “theatrical antics” in promising to transform this city into like Singapore.
They said that whenever there’s heavy rain, the city streets are flooded and the city turned into “Singapool.”
