MANILA — Scorching temperatures are forecasted across multiple regions in the Philippines, with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issuing warnings for 15 areas, including Metro Manila, to expect “danger” level heat index readings on Maundy Thursday.
The heat index, which measures the combined effects of temperature and air humidity on human comfort, is anticipated to range from 42 to 51 degrees Celsius in the following locations:
Pasay City: 42°C
Iba, Zambales: 42°C
Subic Bay, Olongapo City: 42°C
Sangley Point, Cavite: 43°C
Tanauan, Batangas: 42°C
Coron, Palawan: 43°C
San Jose, Occidental Mindoro: 43°C
Puerto Princesa City, Palawan: 45°C
Aborlan, Palawan: 45°C
Masbate City: 42°C
Pili, Camarines Sur: 44°C
Roxas City, Capiz: 44°C
Iloilo City, Iloilo: 43°C
Dumangas, Iloilo: 42°C
Cotabato City, Maguindanao: 42°C
Residents in these areas are urged to take precautions against heat-related illnesses, as heat cramps, exhaustion, and even heat stroke are possible with prolonged exposure to such extreme temperatures.
Additionally, PAGASA predicts that 17 areas will experience similarly dangerous heat index levels on Good Friday (29 March 2024), including:

Recognizing the signs of heat-related illnesses, such as heavy sweating, exhaustion, dizziness, and nausea, individuals are advised to stay hydrated, minimize outdoor activities, and wear appropriate clothing for sun protection.
In case of emergencies, PAGASA recommends moving affected individuals to shaded areas, providing cool water, and seeking medical assistance promptly.
