Filipinos residing in areas of Canada affected by wildfires are being encouraged to reach out to their respective consulates.
The initial advisory was issued by the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver through their Facebook page.
The focus was on wildfires that have impacted the Northwest Territories.
The territorial government declared a state of emergency on August 15, leading to evacuation orders for several regions, including Yellowknife, N’Dilo, Dettah, and Ingraham Trail.
Individuals affected by the wildfires in the Northwest Territories are kindly requested to establish contact with either the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver or the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary.
This communication is intended for reporting their current status and to seek any necessary assistance, as conveyed by the Vancouver consulate.
Similarly, in the Okanagan region of British Columbia, evacuation orders were issued due to the wildfires, with Kelowna City being under a state of emergency.
For Filipinos impacted by these wildfires in the Okanagan area, the Vancouver consulate also urges them to get in touch. The purpose is to inform them about their situation and to access any required assistance, as outlined in a separate advisory issued on Saturday. (Sourced Online/AI/MNM)
