No signs of a storm are anticipated until the upcoming weekend, as noted by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). Barring isolated instances of rain showers and evening thunderstorms, the nation should experience generally clear conditions.
The prevailing influence is the southwest monsoon, known as ‘habagat’, which continues to impact various regions, particularly Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
According to weather specialist Obet Badrina, Pagasa’s observations reveal some cloud formations; nevertheless, fair weather is expected across the entire country in the next 24 hours.
Furthermore, Pagasa’s forecaster added that no tropical cyclones have been detected either entering the country or lingering outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, at least until the weekend arrives.
Specifically, areas such as Visayas, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) will encounter overcast skies accompanied by sporadic rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon.
This weather system, combined with localized thunderstorms, will lead to partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with occasional brief heavy rain or thunderstorms in Metro Manila and other regions across the country, as indicated by the national meteorological agency. (ai/mnm)
