MANILA — The Philippines successfully completed its fifth rotation and resupply (RORE) mission to the BRP Sierra Madre at Ayungin Shoal on January 24, 2025, with no untoward incidents reported.

This marks another milestone under the Philippine-China agreement on resupply missions.

Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza highlighted the role of effective diplomacy in maintaining peace and avoiding misunderstandings in the West Philippine Sea.

She expressed gratitude for the professionalism of the Philippine Navy and Coast Guard in carrying out the mission.

The resupply mission is conducted under the understanding reached in July 2024, ensuring smooth operations in delivering supplies to the marooned vessel.

The understanding, reaffirmed at the 10th Philippines-China Bilateral Consultation Mechanism (BCM) meeting in Xiamen earlier this month, seeks to avoid miscalculations while safeguarding the national interest.

“This mission reflects our commitment to resolving disputes peacefully, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s guidance,” Daza added.

The successful mission underscores the importance of diplomatic cooperation in managing South China Sea issues.
