MANILA — Actress and entrepreneur Neri Naig-Miranda has been cleared of all charges related to syndicated estafa and violations of the Securities Regulation Code after the Pasay City courts dismissed the case.
The news was shared by her husband, Chito Miranda, frontman of Parokya ni Edgar, through a statement posted on his Instagram on Tuesday, March 4.
“Thank you, Lord. It’s truly a relief that the truth has prevailed, and we are grateful for the support of those who knew Neri’s integrity,” Miranda wrote, reflecting on the ordeal. “Neri is kind and hardworking, but sometimes her generosity leads to her being taken advantage of. Still, she remains steadfast in her goodness.”
The Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Pasay City dismissed the charges against Neri after a reinvestigation, which found no probable cause to proceed. The case stemmed from the Dermacare/Beyond Skin Care Solutions scheme, where Miranda had been initially implicated.
In a ruling issued on February 12, RTC Pasay’s Branch 112 highlighted that the complainants failed to present evidence proving that Miranda had personally defrauded them. Judge Ronald August Tan, who issued the dismissal, noted that the complainants had not alleged any personal transaction or money exchange with Miranda.
A similar decision was made on January 20, 2025, when RTC Pasay’s Branch 111 dismissed the case regarding violations of the Securities Regulation Code.
Miranda’s lawyer, Aureli Sinsuat, expressed gratitude to the courts, emphasizing that Neri had been wrongly accused and calling for justice to focus on the true perpetrators behind the Dermacare scam.
Miranda was initially arrested on November 23, 2024, after the charges were filed, but following legal proceedings, all allegations against her were cleared.
