ISTANBUL – Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $50,000 by the NBA for making obscene gestures toward a game official, the league announced Monday.
The incident occurred during the third quarter of the Timberwolves’ 127-125 home loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. This marks the fifth disciplinary action against Edwards this season, bringing his total penalties to $285,000. His previous infractions have largely been related to inappropriate language.
Earlier this season, Edwards received a $35,000 fine for a similar offense in the Timberwolves’ win over the Sacramento Kings on November 15.
Edwards, a two-time All-Star in his fifth NBA season, has faced increasing scrutiny for his behavior both on and off the court. His actions come as the Timberwolves are under pressure to perform well in the coming games and maintain their playoff hopes.
The 2024 Olympic gold medalist with Team USA, Edwards is currently averaging 25.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game this season. (Source: Anadolu)
