MANILA — The House of Representatives adopted House Resolution 2198, along with Resolutions 2196 and 2197, recognizing the life, legacy, and contributions of the late veteran actress Gloria Romero.

The House also extended its condolences and sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late film and television icon.

The resolution highlighted Romero’s illustrious showbiz career, which spanned six decades and saw her appear in over 250 films and television shows. Her remarkable achievements earned her the title of “First Lady of Philippine Cinema.”

Romero passed away on January 25, 2025.

Earlier, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. expressed his sorrow over the passing of the veteran actress, describing her as “not just a brilliant artist but a very fine person.”

“I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of Philippine cinema’s great icons,” Marcos said.
