MANILA — In celebration of Women’s Day, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will offer free rides to all women on Saturday, March 8, 2025, during specific hours.
Free rides will be available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, as part of the initiative to honor women’s contributions to society. MRT-3 General Manager Oscar Bongon expressed that this gesture is a way to show appreciation for women’s sacrifices and their essential role in families.
“Ang libreng sakay ay simpleng paraan upang maipakita ang suporta sa bawat Juana at mabigyang-pugay ang kanilang mga sakripisyo (These free rides are a simple way to show support and honor women’s sacrifices),” Bongon said.
Additionally, MRT-3 will distribute ‘Women’s Month tokens’ to female passengers on Friday, March 7. The 2025 Women’s Month theme is “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” which highlights the importance of women in every sector and envisions a brighter future for all.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and the 45th year since the Philippines signed the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
