MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed a new chief for the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin swore in retired Maj. Gen. Isagani Nerez at Malacañang Palace on Tuesday, February 4, 2024.
Nerez succeeds retired police general Moro Virgilio Lazo, who had led the agency since October 2022.
In 2022, President Marcos appointed Nerez as Undersecretary for Police Affairs at the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Military Affairs. Nerez has also served with the PNP Special Action Force (SAF), the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force (PAOCTF), and the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group.
