MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced today that the combination of the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, and easterlies will continue to bring rain to several parts of the country, with possible flash floods and landslides in affected regions.
In its latest weather bulletin, PAGASA stated that scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected across Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and Misamis Occidental. These areas, influenced by the easterlies, could face moderate to heavy rainfall, raising concerns about flash floods and landslides.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will bring rain to the Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora, while isolated light rains are expected over other parts of Luzon. The rest of the country will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms brought on by the prevailing easterlies.
The weather bureau also warned of moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas along the eastern sections of the Visayas and Mindanao. For other areas, light to moderate winds will prevail, with seas expected to be slight to moderate.
As of 2 a.m., PAGASA reported no active low-pressure areas in the vicinity, and no tropical cyclones are expected to form in the near future.
Residents in affected regions are advised to stay vigilant and monitor weather updates, especially those in flood-prone areas, as the rains could lead to hazardous conditions.
