MANILA – The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) announced Saturday (15 Feb 2025) that cashless and contactless toll collection will resume on major expressways starting March 15.

This follows a successful dry run of the new system.

Motorists are required to have a valid Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) device or Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sticker installed on their vehicles. This shift to cashless transactions aims to streamline toll plaza operations and improve efficiency across expressways.

Vehicles without a valid RFID or ETC sticker will be allowed to pass but will be issued a temporary operator’s permit or a show cause order under the “No Valid ETC Device, No Entry” policy.

The TRB emphasized that dedicated lanes for cash payments often cause congestion, affecting the flow of traffic. It is expected that limiting these lanes to ETC-only vehicles will significantly improve traffic conditions.

Motorists are encouraged to install their RFIDs at available stations inside and outside the expressways for a smoother, faster toll experience.
