MANILA — Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said the government is addressing the rising heat index.

“Siyempre po, laging handa ang pamahalaan patungkol dito. Kung ito po ay makakaapekto sa ekonomiya natin, tayo ay laging handa,” she stated.

On Monday (03 Mar 2025), the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office (MDRRMO) reported that Manila’s heat index in the morning would range from 36-38°C, with a peak heat index of 42°C expected around 2:00 pm.

Castro recalled that the Department of Health (DOH) had earlier issued a statement reminding the public to take precautions.

“As of now, we are still collating other action plans regarding this. But the DOH has already released their message on the matter,” she added.

Due to the high heat index, various local government units have suspended in-person classes.
