MANILA — Get ready for the thrill of the Tour of Luzon 2025, set to return this summer with 15 teams vying for the title of the Philippines’ top cyclist. The competition will take place from April 24 to May 1, spanning seven provinces over eight challenging stages.
This eagerly awaited event, dubbed the “Summer Sports Spectacle on Wheels,” will test the grit and endurance of cyclists as they pedal through various terrains. The race kicks off on April 24 with a 170-kilometer round trip from Laoag City to Ilocos Norte, followed by an 80-kilometer trail on April 25 from Laoag to Vigan City.
The third stage will run from Vigan to Agoo in La Union on April 26, and Stage 4 will cover a 150-kilometer stretch from the south to Clark. Stage 5 will feature a 120-kilometer route from Clark to New Clark City, passing through the iconic Sacobia Bridge. The sixth stage will take competitors through the Pangasinan Provincial Capitol, leading to a final individual time trial of 30 kilometers in Stage 7.
The competition concludes with a grueling 180-kilometer route from Lingayen to Baguio City on May 1, Labor Day.
Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino expressed excitement for the event’s return, stating, “This is what people look forward to during the summer, and it will be thrilling not only for the athletes but also for spectators.”
The revival of the Tour of Luzon was spearheaded by sports patron Manny V. Pangilinan, who emphasized the spirit of cycling, comparing it to business: “Cycling is all about speed, determination, and the courage to conquer the elements.”
The winning team will receive a cash prize of 1 million pesos and a year’s possession of the Tour of Luzon trophy. The individual overall champion will take home 500,000 pesos.
