MANILA — Justice Secretary Boying Remulla said on Monday (Oct. 21, 2024) that Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio’s remarks against the Marcoses were “very disturbing.”

“Very disturbing for a person of her rank, the second highest official in the land. The remarks are unbecoming,” Remulla said when asked about his reaction to Duterte-Carpio’s recent statements.

Duterte-Carpio previously commented that she would dig up former President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s grave and throw it into the West Philippine Sea.

Moreover, Remulla said the Department of Justice (DOJ) is reviewing the legal implications of the Vice President’s statement.

“It desecrates the memory of a person. It disturbs the peaceful state that he must be in, having already passed away, to disturb the body.”

“There are many other moral principles being violated, and we’re also looking into the legal aspects. We’re conducting a study,” Remulla added.
