MANILA — Justice Secretary Boying Remulla stated that the Department of Justice (DOJ) may oppose the Certificate of Candidacy of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo.

Remulla made this statement after Guo’s legal counsel, Atty. Stephen David, disclosed that his client will be filing her COC on October 8 (Tuesday).

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there. Why not? We may oppose; we might as well oppose,” the DOJ chief said.

However, Remulla believes that Guo has no right to run for office as she is not a Filipino.

“I wouldn’t say it’s her right because she’s not Filipino and she bears falsified documents,” he said.

On Friday, Senate Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada stated that fake Filipinos do not have the right to run for public office.
