MANILA — The Department of Justice (DOJ) clarified that it has not yet received a notice of a warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) concerning former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.
“As of today, we have not received any notice of a warrant issued by the ICC,” DOJ spokesperson Jose Clavano said on Monday (10 Mar 2025).
“That’s why we are stating that the government is ready if an arrest warrant from the ICC is issued,” Clavano added.
The Marcos administration had previously stated that the government is prepared for any eventuality if the ICC issues an arrest warrant against Duterte.
“We’ve heard that the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for former President Rodrigo Duterte for crimes against humanity. The government is prepared for any eventuality,” said Presidential Communications Office Secretary Jay Ruiz.
Reports indicate that the former president left for Hong Kong on March 7.
