MANILA — France edged out Brazil in a thrilling five-set match (25-23, 27-29, 13-25, 25-19, 18-16) at the Men’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) in Manila, wrapping up their Week 3 matches at Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday (24 June 2024).

Theo Faure led France with 29 points, including 25 kills, three aces, and a block. Teammates Kevin Tillie, Yacine Louati, and Quentin Jouffroy added 14 and eight points, respectively.

Despite the loss, Brazil’s Ricardo Lucarelli and Alan Souza contributed significantly, with Lucarelli scoring 18 points and Souza adding 15.

Both teams have secured spots in the VNL Finals in Lodz, Poland, from June 27-30.

In an earlier match, Germany triumphed over Iran, 25-20, 25-23, 25-20. Moritz Karlitzek led Germany with 21 points, supported by Moritz Reichert and Ruben Schott.

Iran’s Amin Esmaeilnezhad scored 17 points in a hard-fought game.
