MANILA — Over 400 House of Representatives personnel, including security guards, janitors, dishwashers, and other utility workers, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Tuesday, December 24, as they looked forward to a more bountiful noche buena this Christmas.

The assistance was made possible through the Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita (AKAP) program, a partnership between the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Office of the Speaker.

Held on Monday, December 23, at the People’s Center in the House of Representatives, the event marked the first time 452 beneficiaries experienced such an initiative within the legislative institution.

Each recipient received ₱10,000 in financial aid from the DSWD, along with 10 kilos of rice provided by Speaker Romualdez’s office—a much-needed relief amidst the rising expenses of the holiday season.

The initiative underscores the recognition of these workers’ vital contributions to the daily operations of the House, ensuring its seamless functioning. It is only fitting that they too benefit from government programs, particularly during the festive season.
