MANILA — Senator Lito Lapid has announced his re-election bid for the 2025 midterm elections.

Lapid is part of the administration coalition slate.

The Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas is composed of five political parties: the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.; the Nationalist People’s Coalition, headed by former Senate President Vicente Sotto III; the Nacionalista Party, led by former Senate President Manny Villar; the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, headed by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez; and the National Unity Party, represented by Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte.

The officers of the Alyansa signed a manifesto to uphold and advance the vision and objectives of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s administration.

Lapid, a seasoned actor and veteran politician, has served the public for the past 30 years without any trace of corruption.

During his first six years as a senator in the 14th Congress, he ranked 4th among his peers in the number of bills and resolutions filed.

He authored one of the significant social legislations of the 14th Congress, the Free Legal Assistance Act of 2010, which ensures that the poor are provided with free quality legal services.

Another landmark piece of legislation principally authored by Lapid is Republic Act No. 11767, or the Foundling Recognition and Protection Act, which established the legal basis for registering and supporting orphaned children and other foundlings in the Philippines.

Additionally, he authored Republic Act No. 11551, which integrates labor rights education into the tertiary education curriculum.
