MANILA — House leaders commended law enforcement authorities for the arrest of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, the self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God,” who has long been wanted on charges of sexual abuse and human trafficking in both the United States and the Philippines.
ACT Teachers Party-list Representative and House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro urged the government to ensure Quiboloy faces prosecution.
“The arrest of Apollo Quiboloy must lead to full accountability before the law. The charges against him, both in the United States and the Philippines, are serious and demand thorough investigation and prosecution. Justice must be served for the victims of these heinous acts,” Castro stated.
Gabriela Representative Arlene Brosas also emphasized that Quiboloy “is not a god” and called for those who aided the cult leader to be held accountable.
“This includes a comprehensive investigation into the possible involvement of individuals in positions of power who may have shielded him from facing justice,” Brosas added.
Meanwhile, Ako Bicol Party-list Representative and House Appropriations Committee Chair Elizaldy Co praised the PNP’s use of ground-penetrating radar during the operation.
“This is the first time I’ve heard of this kind of radar being prominently used by our law enforcement,” Co said.
He added, “The House leadership, under Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, will ensure the PNP is allocated more tactical field equipment in their annual budgets. The PNP also requires additional air assets, including unmanned drones equipped with ground-penetrating radar and infrared night vision.”
