MANILA – Lawmakers are calling for the expansion of the Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) following an OCTA Research survey showing that 69% of Filipinos support its continuation.
Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong said the survey validates AKAP’s effectiveness, emphasizing that the program efficiently delivers aid to beneficiaries. “People are directly receiving the assistance, and this shows its impact,” he said.
Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. stressed the need to strengthen AKAP to address economic hardships. “Filipinos are struggling daily. The people have spoken, and we must act to ensure faster and more efficient aid distribution,” he said.
Deputy Speaker David Suarez urged lawmakers to focus on improving AKAP instead of political distractions. “We need to listen to our people. Dirty politics should not overshadow direct aid for those in need,” he said.
House Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe called for unity in improving AKAP’s implementation. “Instead of wasting time on criticisms, let’s work together to speed up aid distribution,” he said.
The OCTA Research survey was conducted from Jan. 25 to 31, 2025, with 1,200 respondents across the country.
