MANILA — The Department of Migrant Workers reported that no Filipinos were injured after an earthquake rocked the Noto Peninsula on Monday morning, June 3, 2024, according to its advisory.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) recorded the earthquake at a magnitude of 4.8. It occurred at 6:40 am local time (5:40 am in Manila), off the Noto Peninsula, located in the northern part of Ishikawa Prefecture on Honshu, Japan’s main island.
“MWO-Osaka is working closely with Filipino communities and Japanese authorities to ascertain the safety and status of our overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the region,” the DMW stated.
The agency added that MWO-Osaka will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to the DMW Head Office.
Meanwhile, the Philippines’ MWO in Taipei (MWO-Taipei) reported that twin earthquakes were experienced in Taiwan on Sunday morning.
