MANILA — More than 3,000 individuals who successfully passed the 2024 Bar exams took their oath on Friday (24 Jan 2025), as announced by the Supreme Court (SC).
The ceremony was held at the SMX Convention Center Manila, located on Seashell Lane in Pasay City.
In his speech, 2024 Bar chairperson and Associate Justice Mario Lopez commended the new lawyers, saying, “This day is a testament to your hard work, perseverance, grit, and faith. Congratulations.”
Lopez emphasized the importance of ethics in the legal profession, urging the new lawyers to embody values such as integrity, humility, service, compassion, education, and the integration of technology.
“These are the hallmarks of a morally competent lawyer—or as I call it, an MVL—Morally Valuable Lawyer,” Lopez remarked.
He further explained, “It takes ethics to be an MVL, because a lawyer who values education, technology, humility, integrity, compassion, and service is the kind of lawyer that the people deserve and expect from #BarNiJLo.”
A total of 3,962 examinees passed the 2024 Bar exams.
Kyle Christian Tutor of the University of the Philippines College of Law emerged as the top scorer, achieving an impressive overall rating of 85.7700%.
