MANILA — The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) on Monday (13 May 2024) cautioned the public against accounts that use the agency’s official image to entice individuals into lending scams.
In OWWA’s social media post, several screenshots were shared by a Facebook account named “Rochelle May Loan” which uses the OWWA logo and posts about those who allegedly want to get an emergency loan.
“May mga account na naman na gumagamit ng opisyal na larawan ng OWWA para makahikayat sa ating mga Kababayan patungkol sa loan lending scam,” said in a post.
The said account also has posts showing proof that some people allegedly get loans.
OWWA also urged the public to report such cases through the agency’s email or call 0917-580-5720 or 8551-6638.
“Tandaan Kabayaan, ang mga account na ito ay WALANG KAUGNAYAN sa OWWA, kahit sa REGIONAL o CENTRAL OFFICE.”
