MANILA — Partly cloudy skies and isolated rain showers are expected to persist over various parts of the Philippines, according to the latest report from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), issued Friday at 4 a.m.
The influence of a shear line affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon, combined with the northeast monsoon prevailing over Northern and Central Luzon, along with the easterlies, will result in partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with scattered rain showers in many areas.
PAGASA noted that the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms specifically over Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte, with a possibility of flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” will induce cloudy skies with light rains over Batanes and Cagayan. In the Ilocos and Cordillera regions, as well as the rest of Central Luzon and Cagayan Valley, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are expected, also attributed to the influence of the northeast monsoon.
For Metro Manila and other areas of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are forecast due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorm activity.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are anticipated over the northern and eastern parts of the country, while light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected elsewhere in the archipelago.
Temperature ranges for selected areas include: Metro Manila, 23°C to 32°C; Baguio City, 14°C to 23°C; Laoag City, 23°C to 30°C; Legazpi City, 24°C to 30°C; Metro Cebu, 26°C to 32°C; Puerto Princesa City, 26°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao, 24°C to 33°C.
