MANILA — Parts of the Philippines will experience rains on Monday (17 Feb 2025) due to various weather systems, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Northeast Monsoon (“Amihan”): Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao will see rain showers.
Shear Line: Isabela and Aurora will experience scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms.
Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ): Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi will face similar conditions with scattered rain and thunderstorms.
Easterlies: The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA warns that moderate to heavy rains in affected areas may cause flash floods or landslides. Severe thunderstorms could also lead to similar hazards.
Currently, no low-pressure area is expected to form into a tropical cyclone. Moderate to strong winds and rough seas are forecast in Northern Luzon, while other areas will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
