QUEZON City First District Representative Arjo Atayde recognizes the contributions of women in the creative industries as he joins the celebration of National Women’s Month.
Atayde, vice chairperson of the Committee on Creative Industries, paid tribute to Filipino artists and actresses who were recently awarded internationally.
“The invaluable contributions of Filipino actresses are worth recognizing, not only for their artistic excellence but also for the pride and honor they bring to our nation,” he said.
Filipino actresses continue to shine on the global stage, showcasing their talent and bringing pride to the country.
In 2024, Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo made history as the first-ever homegrown Filipina to receive the Global Force Award at the prestigious Billboard Women in Music, a recognition of her influence and impact in the international music scene.
Meanwhile, veteran actress Dolly de Leon starred in three international films in 2024: the Sundance comedy-drama Between the Temples, the Sundance drama Ghostlight, and the Amazon Prime action-comedy Jackpot!
Actress Liza Soberano also made her debut with Lisa Frankenstein, which premiered in the United States in 2024. She starred in the film alongside Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse.
“We must continue to support and empower Filipina artists and actresses, ensuring they receive the recognition and opportunities they deserve,” Atayde concluded.
