MANILA — Inspiring her fellow public servants, Bataan Third District Rep. Maria Angela “Gila” Garcia has reminded her colleagues that government work is important because it directly impacts the life, livelihood, and future of Filipinos.
Ito po ang naka-atang sa ating mga balikat,” she said after the flag raising ceremonies at the House of Representatives on Monday (01July 2024).
Garcia added that flag-raising ceremonies remind government workers about their responsibility, and in the recommitment of their oath as public servants.
Garcia cited Jesus Christ as the best example of a servant leader. “Let us remember his teaching: Whatever you do to the least of my brethren, you do unto Me,” she said.
Garcia lauded the House workforce for their concern, dedication, and hard work. She shared that before joining the government, she worked in the private sector for 18 years.
Garcia saw little difference in the work values and business ethics between the private sector and government workers. A key difference, however, is that in public service, every public call is important.
Attendees at Monday’s flag-raising ceremony include Secretary General Reginald Velasco. It was hosted by the Finance Department headed by Deputy Secretary-General Atty. Jennelyn Go-Sison.
