MANILA — In line with the campaign promise of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. to bring down the price of the country’s staple food, the Kadiwa stores are now selling P29 per kilo of rice open to poor beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and solo parents.
Department of Agriculture (DA) Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Arnel de Mesa has disclosed that this project aims to alleviate the high cost of rice by benefiting targeted sectors.
“Pinag-aaralan pa rin ngayon, iyong number of kilos na ipapamigay sa kanila, part pa rin iyon ng pinag-aaralan kung gaano maraming kilos kada buwan,” De Mesa said.
The Kadiwa store in Quezon City was able to sell an equivalent of over 60 sacks per day, but supply runs out before Wednesday noon (19 June 2024).
It was gathered that to ensure that these sectors are prioritized, consumers who wish to avail of this rice are required to present their identification card.
