MANILA — The Supreme Court (SC) has given the House of Representatives and Senate 10 days to comment on the petition filed by Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio concerning her impeachment complaint.

“The SC required the respondents — the House of Representatives, its Secretary General Reginald S. Velasco, and the Senate — to comment on the petition and request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) within a non-extendible period of 10 days from notice,” said SC Spokesperson Atty. Camille Ting.

Ting made the announcement on February 25.

Duterte filed a petition for certiorari and prohibition with a request for a TRO on February 18, seeking to nullify the fourth impeachment complaint against her. She argued that the complaint, filed by 215 House members on February 5, violates the constitutional rule limiting impeachment proceedings to one per year.
