MANILA — Atty. Larry Gadon, who recently assumed the role of Presidential Adviser on Poverty Alleviation, has been disbarred following a unanimous decision (15-0) by the Supreme Court.
President Marcos appointed Gadon to his position only last Monday, 26 June 2023.
The Court took note of a viral video clip in which Gadon made misogynistic, sexist, and abusive remarks directed at journalist Raisa Robles.
As a result, the Court issued a preventive suspension from practicing law against Gadon pending a final judgment.
The Court stated that the video clip was undeniably scandalous and brought discredit to the legal profession, thus violating Canon 2 on Propriety of the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability.
The Canon emphasizes the importance of lawyers acting with propriety, maintaining the appearance of propriety in personal and professional interactions, and upholding honesty, respect, courtesy, and the dignity of the legal profession in line with the highest ethical standards.
