MANILA – The battle for the final two quarterfinal berths in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference heats up as six teams enter the play-in tournament starting Thursday (06 Mar 2025) at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
In Pool A, the Cignal HD Spikers face the Capital1 Solar Spikers at 6:30 p.m., alongside the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.
Meanwhile, in Pool B, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers go up against the Nxled Chameleons at 4 p.m., with the Farm Fresh Foxies also competing.
Each pool will play a single round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the quarterfinals to join Creamline, Petro Gazz, Choco Mucho, PLDT, Akari, and Galeries Tower.
Cignal, ranked No. 3 in the preliminaries, missed out on an automatic quarterfinal spot after losing to No. 10 Galeries Tower, 17-25, 22-25, 25-19, 19-25, in the qualifying round on February 27.
Key players for Cignal include Vanie Gandler, Jackie Acuña, and rookie Ishie Lalongisip. The Solar Spikers will rely on Jorelle Singh, Heather Guino-o, Leila Cruz, and setter Iris Tolenada, after their loss to second-seeded Petro Gazz, 19-25, 23-25, 21-25, in the qualifiers.
Chery Tiggo will look to Ara Galang, Cess Robles, Aby Maraño, and setter Jasmine Nabor in their matchup with the Chameleons, who will be led by Chiara Permentilla, EJ Laure, and Lycha Ebon.
The winner of Pool A will face Petro Gazz, while the Pool B leader will square off with powerhouse Creamline in the best-of-three quarterfinals. Other quarterfinal matchups include Akari vs. Galeries Tower and Choco Mucho vs. PLDT.
