MANILA – The Philippine stock market ended nearly unchanged on Monday (24 Feb 2025), while the peso strengthened against the US dollar.
The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) dipped by 0.03%, closing at 6,095.97, while the All Shares index fell by 0.14% to 3,655.
Regina Capital Development Corp. head of sales Luis Limlingan noted that Philippine shares had a quiet start, with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) decision to cut the reserve requirement ratio (RRR) countered by the sell-off in the US stock market last Friday.
Meanwhile, the peso strengthened, ending the day at 57.80 against the dollar, an improvement from Friday’s close of 57.94. It opened at 57.90 and fluctuated between 57.77 and 57.95 throughout the day, with a weighted average of 57.86.
Trading volume decreased to USD1.17 billion from the previous day’s USD1.33 billion.
