ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Philippines (STT GDC) has announced that the STT Cavite 1 data center has been awarded the Uptime Institute Tier III Certification of Design Documents (TCDD).

This marks a significant milestone in the Philippines’ technology and capability within the global digital infrastructure landscape. It also underscores the company’s commitment to delivering world-class data center infrastructure and solidifies its trajectory towards becoming an industry leader.

The TIER III certification involves rigorous assessments of a data center’s design and construction. Unlike TIER I and TIER II, a data center certified with Uptime TIER III Constructed Facility Certification does not permit shutdowns during maintenance or replacement.

The certification provides reassurance that the stated level of resilience of the critical infrastructure has been validated on site to meet the stringent requirements of the Uptime Institute, making it an ideal choice for organizations with mission-critical applications and demanding uptime requirements.

“The Uptime Institute’s TCCF certification for STT Cavite 1 marks an achievement for us in the Philippines, showcasing our nation’s growing expertise in the data center industry,” said Carlo Malana, President and CEO of STT GDC Philippines.

The design of STT Cavite 1 was led by Pierre Albert San Diego, head of construction and design at STT GDC Philippines and the country’s first Accredited Tier Designer of Uptime Institute in 2015.

“This achievement demonstrates the team’s ability to deliver to world-class standards. I am proud to have played a part alongside our exceptional team. STT Cavite 1 is committed to ongoing innovation, and we look forward to pushing boundaries in future projects,” said San Diego.

The certification was recently awarded to STT GDC Philippines at its main office in Makati City, with Malana, San Diego and Patrick Chan, Vice President, Asia of Uptime Institute, present.

“We are pleased to award STT Cavite 1 with the Tier III Certification of Design Documents, the first step toward the important Tier Certification of Constructed Facility award. This Certification reflects STT GDC’s dedication to global standards, beginning with the first set of design documents criteria set forth by Uptime Institute,” Chan said.

STT GDC Philippines, a fast-growing provider of carrier-neutral data center solutions in the country, continues to expand its data center footprint, underscoring its commitment to enhancing the digital infrastructure in the region through state-of-the-art, hyperscale ready facilities.

Currently under construction is STT Cavite 2, two-story building spanning over 4,500 square meters, engineered to deliver up to 6 megawatts of total IT capacity.

Also under construction is the STT Fairview data center campus, designed to become the largest, most-interconnected, carrier-neutral, and sustainable data center in the Philippines. The facility covers over 83,000 square meters across four buildings, with the potential to offer 124 megawatts of IT load capacity once fully built out.
