Pura Luka Vega, the unapologetic drag artist who faced widespread backlash and was declared persona non grata in at least 17 localities due to his controversial and blasphemous Rock ‘n Roll rendition of “The Lord’s Prayer” (Ama Namin). It was subsequently posted on various social media platforms.
He was apprehended at his residence in Sta. Cruz, Manila, by the Manila Police District (MPD) on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023, in the afternoon. According to MPD spokesperson Maj. Philipp Ines, the drag performer, whose real name is Amadeus Fernando Pagante, is currently in custody at the Santa Cruz Police Station. He was apprehended after a complaint was filed by a religious group.
Based on Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code there is a penalty for “immoral doctrines, obscene publications and exhibitions and indecent shows.”
