MANILA – The southwest monsoon continues to bring rain to most parts of the Philippines, as reported by the weather bureau on Thursday (20 June 2024).
Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, Central Visayas, Western Visayas, and Mindanao are expected to see scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, with the potential for flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and the rest of Mimaropa will also experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to the monsoon. Other regions will have fair weather with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio noted that severe thunderstorms could lead to flash floods or landslides. However, no tropical cyclone is expected to develop in the country until Saturday. Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail across the Philippines, while the southwest monsoon is expected to continue affecting most areas over the next three days.
